Hello everyone! Please bear with me, I’m trying to figure out this blog thingymajigger.
Well, we are putting the finishing touches on the Women Build house at 2805 S. Houston. As soon as we are done, we will be notifying everyone who is on our email list, as well as posting it on the calendar, as to when the dedication will take place. If you helped out on this house, or even if you didn’t, we would love to see you there!

Wow, it is SO hard to believe that this week is actually over! You volunteers were amazingly wonderful! So many ladies turned out and I was pretty impressed with how many men just couldn’t stand to stay away! We got a huge amount of building accomplished – I think we wore Jeremy completely out with all our hard work. He was anxious to get out of town; it seems that attending a conference will bring much needed rest to him! Someone suggested he digitally record all the sessions so he could sleep through them! Ha
. I guess we’ll find out if he did when he gets back.
Well, I finished out the week with a sunburn on my arms, neck, calves, and nose. In addition, there were several mornings I got veeeerrryy chilly too! No wonder our allergies are crazy huh? On top of the sunburns, I crushed a thumbnail with my new pink hammer and had a nail ricochet off my thigh. I feel sure it was my strong muscular thigh that repelled that nailgun’s attempt at shooting me; it surely would’ve pierced through someone without my strength. (tee hee)
But, oh my goodness, I can’t even imagine a week going any better than this past one!! You volunteers were so ….. well, so generous and helpful and teachable and BRAVE! We framed the house basically in one day, got it ready for trusses in two, set the trusses in another, and dried it in by the end of the week. Incredible! I’d put Amarillo’s Women Build Week up against any other. I’m proud to be associated with all you gals (and you guys too!)
Don’t forget we still have the rest of the house to complete, so give me a call and sign up for another shift or two. The pink porta-potty will still be there for us ladies – if that doesn’t get you out there again, I don’t know what will!
Loving my job!
Becky
